Drama

 

We believe that drama can play a major role in a girl’s development. Our aim is to build confidence and encourage creativity through activities such as mime, improvisation, character acting, physical theatre and script work.

 

 

Drama in the Lower School is taught by the Form Teacher. In the Upper School we have specialist Drama Teachers who have the skills to refine natural performers and coax even the most reticent girl out of her shell. Private speech and drama lessons are offered to girls from Year 4 upwards.

 

Each class from the Lower School takes part in our Christmas play at the end of the autumn term. In the spring term the Upper School puts on a musical play, which in the past has ranged from musical theatre productions such as Annie and Little Red Riding Hood through to musical adaptations of Shakespearean favourites. At the end of the summer term the girls who are about to leave us put on a grand production; in 2009 we were treated to an all singing all dancing performance of The Wiz.
